My Short Story - Part 1 of 7

It’s the year 2065, the world has changed a plenty. We are in drought, the water supplies are low. Hover cars are starting to become the new fad. Even though they aren’t wide spread, but people are starting to purchase them. We have all seen a few flying saucers. The Government (Alliance) is expecting an attack on our planet. Much like the movies we have seen in the past. I think they are trying to gather information on how we live and how they can co-exsist with us. But hey, I could be wrong.
People are now getting wary of today’s society. This is because it has been about 20years since the last human baby has been born.

My name is Adam Paine, and I’m a sniper in the Alliance. What I’m about to share with you is highly confidential. Take it all in slowly for what you are about to read may change the place you now call home.

It was a cold morning and as usual I went to the café’ to buy my morning Hot Chocolate and read my paper with my lovely girlfriend Sophie, with her beautiful bright green eyes, midnight black long hair past her shoulders, with her athletic yet petite frame, and our strong, big and hairy Wolf, Lycan. It was just like any normal day, overcast, windy and lightning strikes. The weather has been like this for some time now. People on the street are always taking photos of the sky and its fascinating light show. One man takes my gaze. I see him smiling and taking photos and talking to someone who seemed to be his father. It makes me wonder what it would be like to have a son. At this moment I could see a flare of light shining on the mans face. My instincts kicked in and I got up to yell GET DOWN! But as soon as I got to my feet, it was too late. A bullet from a gun had pierced through the persons skull and exploded through the rear of his head. Bones and brain fragments went all over the window in front of me. It was a site to see. His father fell to his knees. It looked like the father was trying to help his son that had his head blown in half to what may have been a hollow point. Butt he father did not fall for his son. He fell because the sniper had shot both his knee caps. As the father was on his knees, I tried to spot the sniper. All I could see was the Clock tower from where the shots came from, but no sniper.
Out of nowhere a black Mercedes Benz with Fire Orange and Blood red flames came screeching down the street, stopped in front of the father and next thing the man just disappeared. I look at Sophie and mouth. What the f**k! She had the same look on her face as to say, yes what the f**k indeed. We both turn to Lycan. He is the same as always, happily munching away on his Cow thigh bone.

We pay for our meal and exit the café’. We hop into our car and head back to Head Quarters, when the next thing you see is the father falling from the sky and through the roof of the café’. The café then Blows up in a hell raising fire, Glass is flying everywhere, people are running out on fire, the café’ then explodes a second time, body parts come spewing out of the place, Lycan is looking at this as If to say. “Is it lunch time already”. All I can do is watch from the car. I do not have my Rifle here so I cannot put these burning people out of there misery. I cannot use the water because we are in the worst drought in 200Years. There is only one thing I can do, Sophie then opens up a compartment that we had custom built for the car. She pulls out two Katana Swords. The only two left in the world. She takes one, and I take the other. This is the only we can help these burning bodies. We both exit the car. Sophie looks down at the ground, her hair covers her face, she looks up and all you can see is her bright green eyes shining through her midnight black hair. I look up to the heavens asking for forgiveness for what I am about to do to these poor soles.
The burning people are now running at us, screaming for help. You can hear death in there voice. We have no choice. I hesitate for a few seconds, Killing innocent lives is not part of the deal. But it has to be done. Sophie yells out “LEAVE NO ONE ALIVE, ITS FOR THERE OWN GOOD”. I nod. I rise up my Katana and all I can think of is. Make it quick and easy Paine, quick and easy. I stretch out my sword pointing at there throats. I swing left, I swing right. Duck under there burning arms and chop of there heads so they don’t feel much pain. I have killed about six people that were in the café at the time. Sophie is still hacking away at the burning bodies. She seems to be enjoying this a little too much. But that’s why she is my girlfriend. I turn back to Lycan. He has now cracked the window of the Merc. I point my sword to him. He then quickly lets of the deepest and bloodcurdling bark you will ever hear, and then he lied down and continued on his bone.
I then turn to Sophie and tell her, It is done Sophia. She looks back at me, with teary eyes and nods. We clean our swords and head back to the car. I turn to Lycan and look into his eyes and tell him. Bark like that to me again and we will eat you tonight. He puts his paw up as if he is saying sorry with his head facing down. I shake his paw and he goes back to lying down.

We head back to Headquarters. To explain what had happened and what we had done. Lycan, Sophie and I head to the office of Commander Powell. We tell him what had happened this morning. He then said to us, “We were well aware of what had happened Paine. We are trying to find the person who had done this shooting on this man you saw. We know what you done to the burning soles. We would have done the same, but with guns of course” he gives of a small smirk. “That man Paine, that man. He was 20 years of age. He was the youngest person in the world”
